Foundation

Entrena began operations after being selected to train Peace Corps volunteers in the Dominican Republic, becoming the first local organization in Latin America to provide these services.

Strengthening the Social Sector (1991–2001)

260 community-based organizations were supported through the implementation of 35 subprojects aimed at improving health conditions, access to water, and sustainable agriculture.

Entry into the Baseball Industry

Beginning of the strategic relationship with Major League Baseball (MLB) through the supervision of the Oakland A’s academy.

Global Operational Leadership

Entrena was selected by MLB headquarters to establish its operational base in the Dominican Republic, designing the first economic impact studies of the league in the country.

Introduction of the School Retention and Reintegration Program

Launch of an innovative educational model for school reintegration and the eradication of child labor. The model later expanded to six Latin American countries, including adaptations into indigenous languages such as Quechua and Miskito.

Infrastructure Consulting and Volunteer Programs (2006–2011)

Monitoring the construction of elite academies for the San Diego Padres. At the same time, the firm’s reputation attracted international agencies such as the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for volunteer training services.

Inclusion and Entrepreneurship (2011–2013)

Collaboration with the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) to implement accelerated learning and entrepreneurship models for children and youth of Haitian descent in vulnerable communities.

Crime and Violence Prevention Initiative (2012–2022)

Over a decade, Entrena led this US$32.3 million security network funded by USAID. The project impacted 145,000 youth, reducing gang involvement by 36.7% and school dropout rates from 18% to 3%.

Social Innovation and Tourism (2015–2018)

Implementation of Baseball Cares, a partnership between USAID and MLB to combat school violence and promote inclusion. Simultaneously, the Impact Travel program was developed with Carnival Cruises, training local facilitators to manage social tourism in Puerto Plata.

The Shift Toward the Social Lab (2019–2021)

Design of social investment programs for industrial leaders such as DIESCO/Polyplas (US$1.2M) and strategic socioeconomic studies for DP World Dominicana.

USAID Youth-Led Activity

Award of a US$15 million cooperative agreement with USAID to strengthen protection ecosystems in seven provinces, focusing on community resilience to crime.

Institutional Reform

Training National Police instructors in adult learning methodologies and technical execution of the early unions prevention program of Supérate, in partnership with UNICEF and KOICA, impacting 1,680 girls.

Road Safety and Sustainability

Launch of the Youth in Transit program, an initiative by Santo Domingo Motors and Motor Crédito focused on training students and teachers in road safety education.
